3. The Lazy & Recycled Humour

Easily the biggest problem with the movie is that, by clinging so closely to the previous film, many of the gags are just recycled near enough wholesale.

So many of the funniest and most memorable moments from Welcome to the Jungle are rehashed here under the guise of "callbacks," when really it just makes the whole enterprise feel a bit lazy and lacking in imagination.

Yes, The Rock smoulders a lot, and yes, we get numerous scenes devoted to characters complaining about their weaknesses, and that's just the start.

Even the newer jokes, such as Danny DeVito and Danny Glover's in-game avatars constantly acting senile, just feel low-effort and repetitive.

Given that this film could so easily have been a fun skewering of redundant video game sequels, 22 Jump Street-style, it's a shame that the script takes the easy way out at almost every single opportunity.
