Jumanji: The Next Level Review - 6 Ups & 4 Downs

2. It's WAY Too Long

The previous Jumanji was already pushing it with a 119-minute runtime, and in the tradition of all "bigger" sequels, The Next Level clocks in at an indecently long 123 minutes.

This film desperately needed another pass in the editing room before hitting screens, because there are a number of overlong, overindulgent dialogue scenes that just don't know when to end.

Despite the first act rushing hurriedly past the set-up and throwing us into Jumanji, there's a hell of a lot of downtime in the movie where not much is happening beyond characters riffing off one another.

A more disciplined edit could've made this a breezier sit, but instead at over two hours long, it'll probably have you checking your watch a few times. A svelte 100 minutes would've been perfect.
