4. The Villain Sucks

Bobby Cannavale is a terrific actor, but he's given depressingly little to do as the movie's antagonist, John Hardin, a moustache-twirling baddie who wants to gain possession of the green gemstone that will grant the heroes a safe exit from Jumanji.

Though the film is rightly more focused on the group dynamic of its heroes, and some might argue that the movie is actually commenting on the shallow nature of most video game villains by presenting one with almost zero character or depth, it still would've been preferable for the new Jumanji to actually feature an even half-way intriguing antagonist.

Cannavale hams it up the best he can, but his baddie is by far the most forgettable aspect of the entire film.
