Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle Review - 7 Ups & 4 Downs
3. There's Some Unnecessary Adult Humour
Though the film's humour is for the most part focused on the characters, the inherent silliness of video games and the sheer absurdity of the central scenario, there are a number of less-than-savory gags that might make some parents wish they'd taken their kids to something else instead.
Presumably in order to make the movie more marketable to the adolescent crowd, there are some cheekier, lewder gags about sex and genitalia which probably should've been cut.
These jokes largely revolve around gorgeous high-schooler Bethany (Madison Iseman) ending up in the video game body of Jack Black and marvelling at getting to use his penis to urinate, and a puzzling sequence where she gives a man mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and Black's avatar pops a boner afterwards.
Then there's the fact that, in order to view their strengths and weaknesses, the players need to give their chest a firm squeeze, so you can guess how this goes for the only female avatar in the group. Yup. Thankfully these gags comprise such a small part of the movie, but they do clash somewhat with the more wholesome tone of the rest of the film.
