Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle Review - 7 Ups & 4 Downs

2. It's Too Long

With a runtime of 119 minutes, it seemed likely that Jumanji was going to take its time building up to the high-schoolers being sucked into the game, but surprisingly enough, it actually takes place within the first 15-or-so minutes.

Even though the film hits the ground running in this regard, it still ends up feeling a little on the bloated side, with the mid-section in particular feeling padded out with too much downtime between action sequences.

Though it never becomes outright boring, there are clearly a number of dialogue-based scenes that could certainly be cut down somewhat, and if the film overall lost 10-15 minutes, it'd feel like an even slicker, smoother ride.
