1. Velociraptor
In Real Life: Velociraptor was a relatively small dinosaur, with adults measuring up to less than 7 feet long, less than 2 feet at the hip, and weighing less than 35 pounds. With skeletal elements distinctly recalling those of birds, Velociraptor was actually a feathered species. With its long tail and curved middle claw, Velociraptor likely leapt at and tackled its prey in order to disembowel and devour. In The Films: The first dinosaur on screen in a Jurassic Park movie is a raptor as it kills a workman. The first factor to spook Dr. Grant about the park is Hammond's deliberate breeding of raptors. Game warden Muldoon wants them all destroyed. Even Nedry knows better than to mess with the raptor fences. And thats before the power goes out. In subsequent appearances, Velociraptor (with which producers took many creative liberties regarding size) would assert itself as the most dangerous dinosaur brought back from extinction. The incredibly intelligent pack hunters possess the speed, numbers, and natural weaponry to hunt down even the most prepared people on the islands. MVP Moment: A pair of raptors pursues young Lex and Tim into the kitchens of the visitors center, where the dinos proceed to open the door with clawed forearms and hunt the children as they scurry for their lives. Honorable Mentions: Robert Muldoon is outsmarted and eaten by a trio of raptors, and the army of InGen extras is slaughtered as they race into the long grass on Isla Nubla. Confirmed Kills: 13 What's your favourite Jurassic Park dino? Which would you like to appear in Jurassic World? Discuss all things prehistoric down in the comments.
