6. The Return Of King Kong's The Venture - The Lost World: Jurassic Park
It's impossible to watch the Jurassic Park movies without recognising the respect it pays to King Kong: from the dinosaurs to the exotic island setting, the comparisons are clear. Gong even beyond tonal links, Spielberg decided to include a large but not necessarily obvious reference to King Kong; using the same ship that brought Kong to the big city - The Venture - to ship his very own prehistoric monster to the States. Like The Venture of King Kong, this is a ship which only brings tragedy on board, which any eagle eyed viewers will have spotted as soon as the ship's name was shown.
