Dr. Alan Grant is clearly one of the most fortunate characters in the franchise: despite coming close to death on countless occasions he somehow manages to avoid becoming dino dinner right to the end. Fans of Spielberg's body of work will no doubt find Grant's hat more than a little familiar: it bears a remarkable resemblance to the hat worn by Indiana Jones in Spielberg's other hugely successful franchise. To make the comparison clearer there's a scene on a plane where Grant decides to take a nap, and when he tilts his hat over his face before falling asleep this is a clear nod to the other famous Spielberg doctor, Dr. Jones.
