It's still something that I'm struggling to believe, but yes, it appears that after stagnating in development Hell for over a decade, Jurassic Park 4 really is going to happen. Not only was the June 13th, 2014 release date announced just recently, but yesterday, the shock reveal was made that Safety Not Guaranteed director Colin Trevorrow will be directing the film. My inner skeptic still thinks that it's going to slip from that release date given that it's a mere fifteen months from now and the film hasn't even started shooting yet, nor has it assembled a cast (or at least if they have, it hasn't been announced). However, what's clear is that all involved are taking the project seriously this time, as opposed to the countless aborted and failed efforts over the years. Still, the franchise has a lot to prove given that the only one really worth bothering with is the first. Though that results in the bar being set pretty low for four, we hope Trevorrow can craft a film closer to the first film in quality rather than merely being a sequel that is adequately superior to two and three. Here are 10 ways Jurassic Park 4 can save the franchise...
10. Return To Isla Nublar

The second and third Jurassic Park films felt like something of a cheat given that they didn't even take place on the original island of Isla Nublar. In one of the classically cynical sequel moves, The Lost World revealed that there was, believe it or not, a Site B, another island called Isla Sorna, where the dinosaurs were still allowed to thrive in secret. Jurassic Park 4 needs to milk the nostalgia of the original film, and by returning to the original site, they will be easily able to do that. Imagine the new group of explorers - whoever they end up being - arriving at Isla Nublar and traipsing through it exactly as it was in the first film; there's still the outdated computer systems, the cars remain stuck in their tracks, and the T-Rex continues to roam free. Of course, some plot details would need to be addressed, namely how it's all managed to lie dormant for 20 years, but there are plenty of creative ways to explain that. Though the film shouldn't lazily live off the first film's legacy, some references to it would certainly not go amiss.
