Jurassic Park 4: 5 Reasons It Might Be The Best One Yet (And 1 Reason It Can't Be)

4. The Man in Charge: Colin Trevorrow

Colin Trevorrow As everyone knows, the first two Jurassic Park installments were directed by Steven Spielberg, a man whose imagination is only surpassed by his ability to tell a tale. He was perfect for this project. Then came Joe Johnston for Jurassic Park III, and while the man has made some pretty decent films throughout his career, there just didn't seem to be anything terribly special about this outing in the dino franchise. Now, we have an inspired--and possibly brilliant--choice for the helmer of Part 4 of the JP saga: Colin Trevorrow, whose directing debut was last year's simple, sweet, beautiful, hilarious, touching, and honest indie film Safety Not Guaranteed. And he's been blowing up ever since. Before J.J. Abrams was confirmed, Trevorrow was rumored to be helming Star Wars VII, and he IS confirmed to be writing--and therefore possibly directing--the Disney remake of Flight of the Navigator. Trevorrow will bring a level of humanity back to the franchise that seemed to be lacking since the first film. Yes, the dinosaurs will inevitably be the real stars of the flick, but without the people, their relationships, and their personal conflicts, Jurassic Park IV is nothing. With Colin Trevorrow at the helm, Jurassic Park IV may be something indeed.
