Jurassic Park Cast: Where Are They Now?

Laura Dern's palaeobotanist Dr Ellie Satler was another expert invited to Isla Nublar in the original, and who just so happened to be Dr Grant's partner. But, as you know by now, things didn't go to plan, either for the park or their relationship (as we discover in the third film).

Dern has gone from strength to strength in the years since Jurassic Park, growing as an actor and coming to be regarded as one of the best around.

In recent years, she has featured in David Lynch's Twin Peaks revival; and enjoyed even greater dramatic success in the one-two punch collaboration with Greta Gerwig as matriarch Marmee March in Little Women (2019), then with Gerwig's husband, Noah Baumbach as a steel-skinned LA divorce lawyer in Marriage Story (2019). She also shared something of a reunion with Jurassic Park producer Kathleen Kennedy on Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017), in which she played purple-haired hero of the Resistance, Vice-Admiral Holdo.

Dern was recently seen in Grizzly II: Revenge (2020), the sequel to 1976 cult classic Grizzly, though she originally filmed her part for this whacky bear-venger in 1983 (among a future-star-studded cast that included Charlie Sheen, George Clooney and Timothy Spall) and the release of the film was put on hold for decades.

Currently voicing Sue Murphy in Bill Burr's 1970s-set domestic animated comedy series F is For Family on the small screen, Dern is also due to return to cinemas as Dr Ellie Sattler in next year's Jurassic World.
