Jurassic World: Dominion Review - 4 Ups & 6 Downs

2. Too. Many. Characters.

Jurassic World Dominion
Universal

In addition to being horrendously overwritten where its narrative is concerned, Dominion also suffers from a massive excess of characters.

This thing has to juggle almost 20 prominent characters between its heroes and villains, and it's clear that a number of them probably should've been cleaved from the script entirely.

The most egregiously superfluous new characters are surely a mustache-twirling dinosaur smuggler, Soyona Santos (Dichen Lachman), and BioSyn underling Ramsay Cole (Mamoudou Athie), while Jurassic World's Barry Sembène (Omar Sy) and Fallen Kingdom's Franklin (Justice Smith) and Zia (Daniella Pineda) are brought back for perfunctory cameos that barely make a dent.

This all only furthers the feeling that Dominion is an outrageously cluttered, unwieldy piece of work that few filmmakers would really be able to wring much concise entertainment value out of.
