Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom - 12 Stupidest Moments In The Dumbest Jurassic Park Movie Ever
6. The Pointless Child Clone Subplot (Seriously)
Hold onto your butts, because here's where things get REALLY stupid.
Benjamin Lockwood has a young granddaughter, Maisie (Isabella Sermon), who is introduced early on and seems to fill the franchise's apparent requirement to have at least one token child character in every movie.
Things are far more complicated than they seem, though, and while it's initially suggested that Lockwood cares for his granddaughter after her mother died, it's eventually revealed that Maisie is in fact a clone of Lockwood's daughter.
This bat-s*** crazy revelation is implied mid-way through the movie and confirmed in act three, after which it's never really mentioned again and has precious little relevance to the central plot.
Beyond motivating Maisie to save the dinosaurs - as, like the dinos, she shouldn't exist - it's a staggeringly stupid narrative wrinkle and perhaps the most convincing proof that Lucasfilm was smart to kick Colin Trevorrow off Star Wars. Jesus Christ.
But it all sucks the most for young Isabella Sermon, because she sure gives a good performance here, no matter that the role itself is absolute trash.
