If you were ever curious about the political alignment of writers Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly, you need look no further than this movie's subtle yet pointed digs at America's President-elect, Donald Trump.

Firstly, during the movie's opening news reel exposition dump, a headline is briefly visible on a TV noting that the U.S. President "questions the existence of dinosaurs", clearly a nod to Trump's patent denial of reality and belief in "fake news".

Less subtle is an hilarious moment later in the movie, when dino vet Dr. Zia Rodriguez (Daniella Pineda) gives mercenary Ken Wheatley (Ted Levine) a stern talking to, and in return he whispers to his colleagues, "What a nasty woman."

This blatantly echoes Trump famously calling Hillary Clinton a "nasty woman", and though the moment passes so fast it's easily missed, it's definitely on purpose.
