Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom - 8 Reasons Why The Fans Should Be Worried
3. Colin Trevorrow's Absence
Jurassic World didn't quite recapture the sense of Spielbergian wonder the original Jurassic Park has in spades, but it did a decent job paying homage to its forbear.
Director Colin Trevorrow has a solid grasp of what makes dinosaur movies work - it's box office success alone proves that - so his absence may be cause for concern.
His replacement JA Bayona earned critical acclaim with his dark fantasy effort A Monster Calls earlier this year, but he body of work does little to dispel any uncertainty around his ability to deliver the Jurassic World sequel the fans are hoping for.
As emotive as Monster Calls was, it's a different beast to Jurassic World and the Spaniard is an unknown quantity where blockbuster behemoths are concerned.
Retaining Trevorrow would have given Fallen Kingdom more creative consistency, but since he is credited as co-writer the impact of his absence will hopefully be minimal.
