While simplicity is not necessarily a bad thing, the general consensus regarding the plot for Jurassic World is that a little more depth and a few more surprises would have been nice. Jurassic World seems to have taken another leaf out of the Jurassic Park playbook by roughly splitting the film into two halves, the first of which is concerned with world-building while the second unleashes the dinosaurs and focuses on action. It's a tried and trusted approach to tentpole movies, sure, but hardly one which inspires originality or encourages fresh ideas.
