The majority of Whedon's big projects over the years have seen him writing for a sizable ensemble of characters who don't always see eye-to-eye but have to come together in order to overcome the odds.

This is clearly his forte, and so he's probably going to end up tightening the movie's overall sense of teamwork and camaraderie, as is an extremely vital part of the movie's success, especially if Warner Bros. wants to see it pull Avengers-level figures at the box office.

That's not to say Snyder's original vision wasn't all about the team, but when you can get someone of Whedon's talent onboard to do some rewrites and shoot some extra scenes, you sure as Hell get him to give the team dynamic a once-over.
