Justice League: 7 Reasons To Be Positive About The DCEU’s Future

2. It Shows That DC Take Feedback And Criticism Into Account

Though the DCEU being too reactionary can be viewed as a bad thing, it can also be viewed as a positive effect of fan/critic feedback, something that will only improve these films and make them more appealing to a broader group of people.

Coming off BvS, there were a ton of things people disliked - things that Justice League has addressed, and arguably changed for the better. We've already mentioned some of these, like the more hopeful tone, the more traditional Superman, and the more toned-down Lex Luthor, but there are others.

BvS was unnecessarily long, so Justice League stripped back any pointless subplots. A lot of fans were angry that BvS's Batman seemed like a bloodthirsty murderer, but in Justice League, he no longer kills needlessly and mercilessly. Whether you agree that these changes were good or not, they were made with the intent of pleasing a mass audience - which, at the end of the day, is the point.

The DCEU's willingness to change can only bode well for us fans. It doesn't make all our comments, videos, articles, and social media posts feel entirely redundant; Justice League proves there's a chance that the general consensus can affect the outcome of a major studio blockbuster.

So if you hated Justice League, get online and tell people why. If you loved it, do the same. If you're indifferent, mention what you thought was good, and what you thought was bad. Warner Bros and DC might just be listening.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
