The Theory

This might sound like the most Disney thing possible - and indeed it's been used in Disney and Harry Potter in big ways - but there is a chance that all of the post-Superman emotion we're seeing in the Justice League marketing will ultimately lead to a romantic revelation that Superman came back because he was loved.

That's not just adulation of course - Superman, as a messianic figure, would return to help his people when they were most in need. He represents hope and in his absence the world falls to war, violence and terrorism. It could be that collective outpouring that drags him back to life, and would echo his death in a way.

On a more simple level, it could be Lois Lane's love that revives him.

Likelihood

Superman's symbolic status to those he protects is a huge deal and it wouldn't be out of the realms of possibility that he would be brought back to life in order to protect them once more. That's very Jesusy, after all.

And in terms of Lois Lane - The Flash from the future/alternate timeline did tell Batman that Lois was the key, and it could be that he was giving him the tools to bring Superman back from the dead. She probably won't revive him with a kiss like Sleeping Beauty, but the fact that her dreams are calling to him could be used to revive him.
