3. Animal Man (Buddy Baker)
Maybe it's because I'm a huge fan of Grant Morrison's run during the late 80's/early 90's, or the astonishing work by Jeff Lemire in the current series (go read it) but whatever the reason, I just think Animal Man is far too interesting and bizarre to ever make his way into a big team-up movie. Given the ability to take on certain traits of the animal kingdom, Buddy Baker is one of DC's most unique characters. Not just because of his powers, but because he's one of the few superheroes with a full family (a wife and two kids) and a career beyond do-gooding. He's been a stuntman, an actor and even an author. I include him on this list because he's too unfamiliar for the mall theater audience and also because I kind of hold out hope he'll get his own starring vehicle someday. Really, if there's a character on this list that has enough of an original premise and a truly vast mythology to work with, it's Animal Man. There's only one other character that could match that though...
