1. The Weird Purple Nonsense

Why must Justice League have weird, otherworldly nonsense like glowing tentacles and giant purple crystal structures?

Sure, this is probably all designed to show that Darkseid's plan involves transforming Earth into a new Apokolips or something - or that he's opening boom tubes and a side effect is that some of his monstrous world sneaks through, but it's all a little bit Suicide Squad.

We've seen monsters with glowing tentacles in that movie, we've seen alien effects and weird henchmen and landscapes that look like Halo game concept art. It's just not effective in selling real threats or authentic emotion. And if it's a big part of the climax, then it's going to be horribly distracting.
