Justice League Movie: 10 Alternate Heroes We'd Love To See
10. Shazam
Shazam is the alter ego of a boy named Billy Batson, who comes across an ancient wizard and is entrusted with magical powers to be a champion of good and who has hid his ups and downs since debuting in 1939. Whenever Billy speaks the word "Shazam!" he's struck by a magic lightning bolt that transforms him into an adult superhero, who has the powers of six archetypal Gods. They are, the Wisdom of Solomon, the Strength of Hercules, the Stamina of Atlas, the power of Zeus, the Courage of Achilles, and the Speed of Mercury. While the character is a bit cheesy and particularly hard to adapt for both modern audiences and the more "grounded" DC universe, it's definitely not impossible. Shazam could be the doorway into the mystical side of the DC universe, in the same way that Thor does for Marvel. His introduction in Justice League: War was well thought out, and he connected well with Cyborg, another young member of the team. We know that Cyborg will be in the Justice League film, and it would be great to see his and Shazam's relationship play out in live action. Billy Batson is a good character and would connect well with young audiences. He also adds a sense of wonder and excitement that has been missing from the DC films so far, so maybe he would be a good way to organically inject those elements into the cinematic universe. At this point in time, there is a Shazam movie in the works, though it appears it won't be directly connected to the Justice League movie. Chances are it's a solo film, that if well received, will tie into the greater DCCU once it's established.
