Justice League Movie: 10 Alternate Heroes We'd Love To See
9. The Atom
Like many comic book superheroes, there have been several iterations of The Atom over the years, who have all been members of the Justice League, Justice Society of America, Suicide Squad, and Justice Legion Alpha. Over half a dozen characters have taken on the moniker, the most popular of which is arguably Ray Palmer, who was introduced in the Silver Age of comics in 1961. A physicist and university professor, he stumbled across a mass of star matter that had fallen to Earth. From this matter, he fashioned a lens that allowed him to shrink down to subatomic size. Over time the character was rewritten to go from getting the powers from his costume and belt to being able to control them within his own body. The Atom is more than just a size-shifting hero, and has been given some pretty great adventures over the years. He's done everything from interstellar and time travel, to fighting microscopic alien races in miniature worlds. He's not just a superhero, but a scientist and super-spy. Audiences will immediately draw parallels to Marvel's Ant-Man, who will be getting his own solo film in 2015, but The Atom could easily stand apart if the filmmakers utilize his unique abilities and attributes. For instance, he once shrunk himself down to microscopic levels in the animated series Batman: The Brave and the Bold to stop a virus from killing Batman. Show me another superhero movie where something like that could happen!
