If you're looking for positivity in among the reviews, there is actually some to find. For instance, VillageVoice seems to suggest that the "mess" that they and everyone else seems to be talking about lends an air of surprise to the whole thing:

"But these off-kilter rhythms actually lend the film a pleasant unpredictability."

So at least not everyone thinks it's rote and predictable, anyway. And there's also a mention of a surprising spoiler in one review that doesn't deserve the link here.

This falls in line with what Ben Affleck has been saying about the secrets that haven't yet been revealed, which might have picked up a little more traction if the marketing campaign hadn't so infuriatingly focused on hiding Superman's presence while also inviting Henry Cavill along to all of the publicity events.
