After Superman was killed off in Dawn of Justice, just his second DCEU appearance, there wasn't a fan watching that didn't expect it to be undone in the near future. That's exactly how it played out in the infamous Death of Superman comic arc, and it was always going to happen in the movies.

Of course, this is exactly what happened in Justice League. It was no secret, as the character was used in the marketing of the movie, so every fan knew what to expect. However, those that had read the comics expected his comeback to be a little more accurate to the source material.

When he was brought back to life in the movie, Superman wasn't sporting the jet black costume like he did back in 1992. The distinctive, iconic aesthetic that signalled a damaged, broken, still healing Man of Steel will now be a part of the Snyder Cut, after being left out of the cinematic release.

The suit is more than just a change in colour for Superman. It shows a change in the hero himself, that he is different from before his battle with Doomsday, lending the movie something of a Gandalf the Grey and Gandalf the White vibe, something that is clearly important to the director's vision of the story.
