Kevin Feige Talks Marvel's 5 Movie Spider-Man Plan
Let's be honest, we all want more.
Despite the hints that their deal with Sony might extend beyond only one Spidey sequel, Marvel only have a five movie plan mapped out for Spider-Man.
That's according to head honcho Kevin Feige, who spoke to the Toronto Sun to talk about the long-term plan for the wall-crawler:
“We are looking at a five-movie storyline - Civil War, Homecoming, Avengers: Infinity War, untitled Avengers, Homecoming 2 - or whatever we end up calling it - as an amazing five-story journey for Peter Parker. In the way that the events of Civil War directly inform the opening of Homecoming and his state of mind as he goes back to high school, so too will the events of the next two Avengers movies as he continues with high school. This original 22-movie arc ends with the untitled Avengers in May of 2019 and then two months later it will be Peter and Spider-Man that usher us into the aftermath and how things proceed from there.”
So despite the claim that Spidey would "lead" Phase 4, the suggestion there is very much that Marvel aren't planning for anything beyond that. That's probably a smart move, considering the fact that the power remains with Sony, who could pull the plug on a deal no matter how far Marvel plan in the future. And nobody wants any seeds planted to end up going unfertilised.
For now, we've got Homecoming to look forward to and Spidey's part in Infinity War and Avengers 4, and then hopefully we'll see if Sony and Marvel can map out even more movies.
