Kevin Smith NOT directing Super Max

Kevin Smith has responded to the Internet rumors that he was in talks to direct David Goyer's Green Arrow script Super Max and he has called them false. He still won't reveal what superhero movie he is in talks for so of course that will only leave us speculating about what it could be even more and coming up with further false rumors.

So let's take another look. This is the exact quote that started it all...

€œI think that by that point, by my 10th film, I€™ll be ready to take on something that is very visually oriented€The 10th movie I think is going to be a comic book movie - not €œThe Green Hornet,€ though. There€™s something that we€™re kind of negotiating on right now which would actually be pretty cool. I don€™t know what the audience for it would be, but I would dig making it because I€™ve always been a fan of the character. I can€™t say what it is though, because they haven€™t locked it in.€

So what could be? Here's some of the possibilities that come to my mind (they are probably false guys, so let's not start anymore Internet rumors by spreading this everywhere)...

WONDER WOMAN

Wonder Woman is probably the highest profile comic book character currently in development that has no director attached. You may remember Joss Whedon was in charge of this project for many years before eventually he came to the conclusion that Warner Brothers and he didn't see eye to eye on the project. Could this be the one then?

I'd say no. I mean it does fit into the category of being something that might struggle to find an audience (after the debacle of Catwomen, super-heroine movies have been off the schedule) and Smith could well be a fan of this character but I don't know. There's something about Smith and Wonder Woman that doesn't add up.

Green Lantern

GREEN LANTERN

As far as I'm aware there is currently no Green Lantern movie in development, apart from possibly the character being involved in the Justice League movie. The character is a little less easier to adapt on screen than some of the other DC hero's which could fit into the different audience thing and I know Smith is a huge fan of the character as he keeps name-dropping him in every one of his films but I have a feeling with the team-up flick on the horizon, there are no plans for a single Green Lantern solo movie anytime soon.

DAREDEVIL 2

This is something I've thought for a while that Kevin Smith might be interested in doing. We all know about his friendship with Ben Affleck who starred in the first adapted Daredevil movie back in 2003 and we certainly know Smith is a huge Matt Murdock fan (he had a small cameo in that movie too and has wrote many issues of the character) and with Affleck not doing a lot these days, why not take a stab at resurrecting the character? Daredevil is way too good of a Marvel character to be wasted in the vastness of movie space because of one shitty movie four years ago. I would love to see Smith give it another shot with Affleck. I would bet this was the one and I dearly hope so.

Black Panther

BLACK PANTHER

A Black Panther movie could be awesome. He's visually a cool character for Marvel and is one of those second tier characters that they are going to have to dig into as their back catalogue becomes dry. I believe a Panther movie is in the very early stages of development so this could turn out to be a possibility.

So which do you think Smith was talking about? Do you think it was any of the above or could it be something else? Would you like to see Smith helm any of them?
