2. You Cant Avoid Mark Millar
Everyone knows Stan Lee loves to pop up in Marvel movies (even with characters he had no direct involvement with) and that Alan Moore avoids adaptations of his work like the plague. Mark Millar, the man behind the Kick-Ass comics, manages to be an opposite of both. His appearances are much more in the background and he maintains a strong involvement in the films production. I've already looked at the references to his other works, as well as hhe impact he has on the film adaptations of his work (and more importantly the other way round), so now Ill set my sights on his in-the-flesh cameo near the end of the movie. Both Millar and artist John Romita Jr. are background masked men in the final showdown, the former being a hero and the latter a villain. Neither appeared in the first Kick-Ass, which would have made this moment something for comic book fans to relish, if it had gone to plan. There was meant to be a couple of close-ups of the two fighting in the final film, but Millar had to leave the shoot early so the moments could never be shot. They are still there in the background of some wide shots, so once you easter egg hounds are done checking Dave's bedroom, I'd jump forward to this.
