King Richard Review: 7 Ups & 3 Downs

1. The Slightly Overlong Runtime

King Richard isn't a torturous sit by any means, though its 138-minute runtime is a little trying at times, especially in the flabbier first half of the film.

The Williams family's story is clearly an epic one and probably worthy of its own mini-series if we're being honest, though some scenes in the first act in particular do verge on the sluggish side, particularly some of Richard's clashes with local gangs in Compton.

A few nips and tucks would've been welcome overall, though the runtime being a touch over-extended is in no way a deal-breaker.

These issues aside, King Richard gets so much right. Here's why it's absolutely worth watching...
