Kingsman: The Golden Circle Review: 3 Ups & 7 Downs

1. There's Unexpected Political Subtext

And finally, there is some odd and unexpected political subtext at the heart of the movie, and while it is a little sloppy, it's at least interesting and occasionally amusing.

The subtext stems from both the international relations between the Kingsman and Statesman branches, and how Poppy's scheme highlights the ineffectiveness of the United States' controversial War on Drugs.

Nobody goes to a Kingsman movie for the social commentary, but it was at least intriguingly weird to see such an expensive, over-the-top action movie broaching such ideas.

That's not to say that these movies need to provide insight into how the real world works, but the execution of this satire was actually relatively decent, the film's myriad issues be-damned.
