Kingsman: The Golden Circle Review: 3 Ups & 7 Downs

5. None Of The Action Matches The Church Scene

Though the action sequences are undeniably fun for the most part, there's sadly nothing that comes even close to matching the brutal audacity of the first film's infamous church scene.

There are showy set-pieces for sure, but even the barmy finale feels like a lesser offering than what came before, and ultimately Vaughn has failed to one-up the original, an unfortunate pitfall of many action movie sequels.

The bar was set incredibly high in this regard, to be fair, but a lot of the movie's best action beats were already given away in trailers, and overall there's just not much here that's particularly inventive or memorable.
