Kingsman: The Golden Circle Review: 3 Ups & 7 Downs
6. The Brutal 141-Minute Runtime
Though it's common for action sequels to up the scope and run much longer than their predecessors, were there many fans of the first film angling for a 141-minute Kingsman sequel?
What's most disconcerting about this film's length is how utterly unnecessary it is. The narrative gets bloated out by numerous needless subplots, especially an overlong trip to the Glastonbury festival, and countless scenes drag on much, much longer than they need to.
To that end it feels like Vaughn and co-writer Jane Goldman let their indulgences get the better of them, to the point that The Golden Circle is actually a pretty exhausting, poorly-paced sit, with overly lengthy spaces of time between action sequences.
