Kong: Skull Island - 21 WTF Moments
18. Toby Kebbell's Accent
Fair play to Toby Kebbell, despite making some of the most unwatchable movies of the past few years in Wrath Of The Titans, Fantastic Four, Warcraft and Ben-Hur, he still gets cast in major projects. And all of this despite the fact that his ability to convincing do - and hold - an American accent is on the same level as his ability to make Doctor Doom a good character.
It's absolutely all over the shop, which might be why he appears to start the film as a main character and is then brutally sidelined and turned into a walking, talking "when I get out of here, Ima make things right with my son" cliche.
All in all, his Jack Chapman is a pretty terrible character, included solely as an emotional heart-string-puller, and a narrative device Packard can use to guide his men on a White Whale hunt.
Still, he doesn't about 200% more for the plot than Jing Tian, who might be the most cynical attempt to cash in on Chinese market dollars ever seen in a blockbuster.
