Kong: Skull Island - 21 WTF Moments

19. The Sun Porn

One thing is abundantly clear as the film develops: Jordan Vogt-Roberts REALLY likes shots of the sun. He likes them to be moody and drenched in amber, reminiscent of Apocalypse Now's iconic shots and generally just a good way to show off silhouettes.

You'll find this out because there are roughly 800 blistering shots of the sun - in close-up - throughout the film. And it doesn't even matter that the size and colour of it don't suit the actual scene, because the director is not against jumping through times to stuff his twilight sun porn in wherever he can.

There's also a shot right at the end that might as well be a rip-off of the Eye Of Sauron, which is just plain odd.
