9. The Octopus Battle

When Toby Kebbell's Major Jack Chapman - probably the most pointless character in the history of monster movies, since it's impossible to actually care about his demise - discovers Kong bathing, he witnesses the giant ape fighting with a monstrous octopus.

He eventually turns it into sushi, but the whole sequence feels very much like a call-back to the scene in 1962's King Kong vs Godzilla, which also has a battle with a giant octopus.
