3. A Lot Of The Humour Falls Flat

A lot of people were bemused by the movie's second trailer, which featured much more humour than the fairly stoic and serious first, a common trend by movie studios when they're unsure of how to market a movie with a challenging tone (but more on that in a moment).

Yes, this version of Kong is filled with one-liners and quips, though sadly very few of them land with any impact. Some topical jokes most likely added in reshoots hit the mark and there's one hilarious action beat you won't forget anytime soon, but more often than not the jokes are so mild and effortless they needn't have been included at all.
