Last Night In Soho: 8 Big Questions Left Unanswered
7. Does Ms. Collins Know About The Time Ghosts?
When Ms. Collins first discusses the bedsit for rent with Ellie, she explains that her deposit is so large because previous lodgers had a nasty habit of taking off in the middle of the night. In any other movie, it might sound like Collins just has pretty terrible luck as a landlady. In a horror movie, however, unwanted real estate pretty much always foreshadows a haunting.
This raises a few questions, though. Assuming these overnight departures were supernaturally motivated, did not one of these tenants inform Collins of the strange happenings upstairs? It doesn't sound like Collins' rent hike was a recent development, so it stands to reason that at least one of her former occupants would have tried to get their deposit back. Surely Collins wouldn't have been so bold as to have included a time ghost clause in the lease agreement.
Yet at the end, Collins acts blindsided after police come around asking about potential murders in the building, and she seems downright mystified when she eventually sees the ghosts themselves. Given what we learn of the building's history, it's pretty odd to think the ghosts wouldn't have revealed themselves to Collins directly, even on the unlikely chance that her tenants hadn't already tipped her off to their presence.
