Last Night In Soho Review: 6 Ups & 4 Downs

2. The Third Act Is A Total Mess

Without going into spoilers, the movie's third act is a pretty significant step down in quality, no matter the bloated second act.

The finale is a hurried sprint full of plot twists both silly and predictable, and even the ones that you might not guess are more reliant on hoodwinking the viewer through manipulation and concealed facts rather than delivering genuinely satisfying rug-pulls.

But what really sinks act three is the injection of thoroughly daft horror elements that just feel low-effort and lousy for a director of Wright's caliber.

It doesn't help at all that the CGI elements look rough, even unfinished, ensuring what's supposed to be scary and intense is actually laughably garish.

Throw in an unearned head-scratcher of an ending and it really feels like Wright dropped the ball in the third reel, even if the preceding two acts are entertaining enough to save it.
