Or alternatively, Fanning's sister Elle might be a better choice. She's certainly no clone of her sis, and with a penchant for subtle performances, channelled through her own reserved style, she's arguably just as talented as Dakota. Although her character in 'Super 8' was a tad one dimensional, Elle did stand out in the film overall, with a believably urgent and exploratory performance, succeeding €“ as would be the case in The Last Of Us - in the context of a world in panic. This realm of experience would be valuable for The Last Of Us, as the film itself should essentially juxtapose between pent up emotional scenes and urgent, action packed collisions. Elle would suit both of these if she were cast in the part. She's also shown that she can be just as successful in sentimental grown up motion pictures, such as Ginger & Rosa and Low Down. This proves she'd definitely be able to do the complexity of Ellie's character justice, due to the emotional range already developed in the various different styles she's been a part of. This would be essential to depth at which Ellie's character should be portrayed in the film, as Ellie is a hard to read, multi-faceted girl. In this sense, Elle would probably take to the character in a similar manner to her sibling, but would be a better choice due to her younger age, (which is closer to Ellie's age in the narrative). If there's going to be a Fanning sister in the part, sorry Dakota, but Elle's got this one.
