The Last Of Us Movie: 11 Actors Who Could Play Joel

5. Bryan Cranston

This is a very iffy choice based on age alone. In the game, Joel is in his late 40's, yet Bryan Cranston is 58. The writers could always change that in the film to accommodate Cranston, and we don't think too many people would mind. However, I put him on this list because frankly, he is a damn good actor. Anybody who is anybody knows Cranston from the Breaking Bad television series which saw him portray cancer-stricken chemistry teacher turned meth dealer, Walter White. He turned a lot of heads with the role because most people knew him as "the dad from Malcolm in the Middle" and he totally nailed the character of Walt. That's the kind of skill he could bring to the role of Joel. Obviously Cranston has proven that he can be ruthless when he needs to be and I can easily see him being able to dispatch infected and human enemies with careful calculation, and the right tools at his disposal. Again though, the age comes into question: Would a 58 year old man be able to eliminate enemies with ease like Joel can in the game? Maybe not, but with Ellie by his side backing him up, it could be believable. There is no doubt in my mind that Cranston would not have a problem bringing Joel to life and it would honestly be pretty amazing to see him in a movie like this.
