What can anyone honestly say about Chistian Bale that hasn't already been said? The man is one of the most dedicated thespians alive today and he is constantly finding ways to further hone his craft. Bale has been in a number of intense, psychological roles before, so this would be such an easy choice for the casting department to make. His roles in films like The Machinist, American Psycho, The Fighter, and The Dark Knight trilogy have groomed him as a top candidate for this coveted part. The brutality required for the role of Joel would be a walk in the park for Bale and he would bring Joel's dark past to staggering life as well as the hardened, take-no-prisoners survivalist that we see in the game. There aren't a lot of actors today that throw themselves into roles like Bale does and that's why he would be a prime choice, as someone with his reputation and skill could finally move the video game adaptation genre in the right direction.
