The Last Of Us Movie: 15 Key Scenes We Need To See

1. Joel's Lie To Ellie

While it may not be a shocker, the very last scene of the game, more than any other, is the one the studio absolutely has to get right. It was almost perfect when it could have so easily been cheesy or overblown. Every word had meaning, the character's' faces and movements were spot on and it left much to the imagination of what was to come for the two leads once the screen went black. Not knowing if Ellie believed Joel about there being others with the same immunity as her is absolutely essential to the film. If it looks like she blatantly accepts or rejects his response it will kill the emotion. It is truly a make or break moment and if the people behind the scenes know what they are doing, it should be copied almost verbatim. There is no shame in not trying to outdo something so brilliant. This scene will be difficult not only because it evoked so many emotions, but also because it is so simple. It doesn't require any flashy CGI zombies or a haunting original score, but two capable actors who know how to make an audience feel like they are living a movie which in some ways can be more difficult than creating an environment from scratch.
