Leaked TMNT Script Includes Krang, Bebop & Rocksteady
Those who have read it have been dropping character names faster than Vanilla Ice dropped rhymes in the Turtles Rap.
If you were previously filled with dread by the horror stories you were hearing about Michael Bay's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot then you may be somewhat appeased with some of the information Latino Review have gleamed from a recently leaked version of MI:3 writers Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec's script. Those who have read it have been dropping character names faster than Vanilla Ice dropped rhymes in the Turtles Rap and the names included at least show the series clearly isn't getting completely reinvented. So who exactly has been written into the Platinum Dunes reboot that Battle: Los Angeles and Wrath of the Titans director Jonathan Liebesman (shudder) will direct? None other than mutant henchmen Bebop and Rocksteady! And if that isn't exciting enough then how about Krang and the Technodrome? Music to the ears of anyone who grew up in the late 1980's and early 1990's and consider TMNT characters as childhood favourites. Though the inclusion of Krang into the story perhaps hints that the controversial origins of the Turtles being from another planet, could hold true. The previously rumoured plot reportedly follows our four ninja turtles and their rat teacher on their journey to Earth to help stop an extraterrestrial dictator from enslaving the human race, all with the help a little help from reporter April O'Neil. However there is always a chance that the leaked script is an old one or an early draft and it may have changed beyond all recognition since. Even with original creator Kevin Eastman's involvement there's no guarantees that the mutant turtles we once knew and loved will be recognisable on screen to what we remember them. Noticeably absent from the name dropping so far was Shredder - and if he does show up (and it seems likely he will given the inclusion of Dimension X) how will his link to Splinter change given the fact that the giant rat is also alleged to be from the same alien planet as Michelangelo, Leonardo, Donatello and Raphael? More will become apparent as the film slowly grinds into production. The new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be released in May 2014, although this date is not set in stone.
