Lee's got some SOUL, my brother!

Variety. For those not keeping up, the pre-strike movie from Dimension Films follows Samuel L. Jackson and Bernie Mac as a bickering pair of backup soul singers who decide to take a road trip together despite the fact that they haven't spoken to each other in two decades. The trip is in honor of their former band leader whose tribute concert they are putting aside their differences to reach. The movie will begin production on January 21st and has been written by the team behind INTOLERABLE CRUETLY and MAN OF THE HOUSE. I have actually been quite fond of this idea for quite some time, especially with Jackson and Mac doing their own singing in the flick. They are two extremely funny and charasmatic performers whose chemistry has never been explored on screen. In fact, this is the first time they will have ever starred together. It's a shame they got themselves a rather lame duck as a director but Mac and Jackson could be strong enough to keep this interesting anyway. This could be fun.
