LEGO Batman Movie: 75 Easter Eggs & References You Need To See

18. Nightwing

Nightwing DC
DC Comics

Robin decides to try and "do what Batman would do" when the Dark Knight disappears, and strikes out on his own to try and stop the Phantom Zone invaders. As part of that, he takes a“Nightwing” costume from Batman’s closet of costumes. Clearly that references Dick Grayson eventually becoming Nightwing in the comics.

But actually, the costume is so different that it seems weird, until you realise Grayson wasn't the first Nightwing - that was Superman, who used the codename and a much more similar suit to the LEGO one Dick chooses during the 60s.

17. Alfred's '66 Costume

Batman 1966
Warner Bros.

Alfred teams up with Batman and Robin for the final fight, initially using the classic Batman costume from the 1966 film and show, complete with weird drawn on eye-brows.

16. Alfred's OTHER Costume

The Green Hornet Kato
ABC

Alfred then has a costume change, dropping the 1966 Bat costume for a different one that looks suspiciously like it's based on Kato's costume from The Green Hornet. The two properties actually crossed over at one point.

And Alfred joining the Caped Crusaders on missions is something we've seen before in the 60s TV show. Though he looked considerably less cool...
