LEGO Batman Movie: 75 Easter Eggs & References You Need To See
9. The Joker's Tattoos
The Joker's look is mostly pretty classic: he wears the purple suit and similar hairstyle to Batman: The Animated Series' version of the character, but when he goes short sleeved, it is revealed that his forearms have tattoos, in honour of Jared Leto's super-modern version of the character from Suicide Squad.
8. Smylex
At one point during the movie, Harley Quinn can be seen wearing a Smylex T-shirt, which is the codename The Joker typically uses for his toxic products.
It's the same substance (originally called Smylenol in the script) that Mr J uses to kill the two models in Batman '89.
7. Batman v Superman
Just as there are a couple of major Suicide Squad references, LEGO Batman also includes criticisms of Batman v Superman. First, when Joker insists that he is Batman's greatest nemesis, Bats claims it's actually Superman, leading to The Joker suggesting it's impossible for superheroes to fight. Take that Warner Bros.
And later there's a flash-back shot that perfectly captures the rooftop scene from Dawn Of Justice that saw Batman and Superman facing off.
