Leonardo DiCaprio: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked
3. J. Edgar Hoover - J. Edger (2011)
The one where Leonardo DiCaprio gets made up to look older and fatter, gets a little big angry at times, and offers pretty much nothing else. Clint Eastwood's biopic of the FBI founder simply meanders through the greatest hits of his life, and while DiCaprio looks impressive, he never really gets into the role or offers any sort of great insight into the character. It instead feels like a 'ok, this happened, now make him look older and do this, now make him look even older and do this'. It's a lacking performance in a film that is generally lacking, although in the hands of a different director you feel this could've turned into something much more.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
