Liev Schreiber: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked

2. Ray Donovan - Ray Donovan

And so Liev Schreiber is another in a long line of Hollywood actors who have to decided to take the leap into television - in this case, Schreiber signed on for the lead role in Showtime's underrated and very excellent Ray Donovan, which chronicles the exploits of a "fixer" of that very name, played by Schreiber to brilliant effect. Ray Donovan is still relatively under-watched as it stands, and hasn't managed to reach the heights of other TV shows like Breaking Bad and Mad Men, and yet Schreiber's performance alone is enough to warrant huge viewing figures. As a native of South Boston, Donovan is as tough as they come, of course, and as he goes about his day fixing things for employer Goldman & Drexler, Schreiber makes him both likeable and really, really scary all at once (there's that trademark Schreiber "grey area" again). But aside from being a dark show about dark people doing dark things, Ray Donovan gives Schreiber the opportunity to really act, as witnessed in those scenes his character shares with his family - especially the ones with his father, played by Jon Voight. Here's hoping this show lasts, hm?
