Liev Schreiber: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked

3. Ross "The Boss" Rhea - Goon

Without a doubt, Goon - which stars Seann William Scott - is one of the most underrated comedy flicks of the past few years. A brutally violent and brilliant funny sports movie about a well-meaning but very stupid hockey player who gets a chance to play in the big leagues thanks to his ability to dish out and endure huge amounts of pain, it boasts great performances from the likes of Scott himself, Alison Pill and our man Liev Schreiber. As renowned Canadian hockey pro Ross "The Boss" Rhea, Schreiber straddles that fine line between "cool" and "massive d*ck." Which is to say, Liev Schreiber provides the closest thing that Goon has to an antagonist... and though his sh*t talking veteran plans to crush Seann William Scott's Doug Glatt in their final match, there's also a degree of respect between the two. It's a relatively small role, but one that's impossible to forget because of the likeable way in which Schreiber plays his baddie. You almost feel sorry for the guy when Doug nails him in the final, given the way Schreiber inhabits Ross in the brief scenes beforehand. Certainly, he's the movie's most memorable character.
