Life Of The Party Review: 2 Ups & 7 Downs

1. There's A Surprisingly Effective Plot Twist

No spoilers here, but the movie's big surprise is that it delivers a plot twist in its third act that's both surprising and really quite effective.

The big reveal is cleverly concealed - and perhaps aided by the audience's own low expectations - such that when it arrives, it provides a genuine comedic jolt and allows the film to surge with manic energy for a few minutes.

Granted, it's a passing moment of inspiration in a mostly lazy movie, but it undeniably works without taking things too far in the direction of cartoonishness or excess melodrama.
